“Ethics: Beginnings and Endings in Therapy: Avoiding Some Ethical Pitfalls”

Presented by April R. Crable, Ph.D., MBA, LPC, CSOTP, CSAC,BC-TMH

Counselors can find it challenging to have conversations surrounding racial, cultural, sexual, gender and religious issues with clients and colleagues. This training teaches strategies for counselors to become more culturally competent in their ability to counsel clients from different cultures. Additionally the training empowers counselors to strengthen their own cultural awareness, communication, and knowledge in the work place and clients.

Participants will:
1. Participants will learn strategies to avoid cultural misunderstandings that can rupture the therapeutic relationship with clients and prevent building a safe
space.
2. Participants will identify and understand how their lived experiences impact the work they do with clients and colleagues.
3. Participants will learn to recognize and explore how personal values impact their work with clients.
4. Participants will learn to address common ethical dilemmas faced with working diverse clients.
