“Diagnosis: Understanding the changes with DSM-TR (SUD and treatment)”

The DSM has been a widely used manual for mental health professionals since its inception in 1952. Since that time there have been several revisions and updated versions of the manual (DSM-I, DSM-II, DSM-III, DSM-III-R, DSM-iV, DSM-IV-TR, DSM-5, DSM-5-TR). This training will briefly review the history of this important document, identify the purpose and uses for the manual and the diagnostic system. Following the overview of the manual, emphasis will be placed on identify the changes to the current, revised manual and the impact of the changes to current clinical practice in the modern therapy relationship.
