Celebrate CrossWinds Annual Fundraiser Goes Hybrid/Virtual Format ~ #COVIDCantStopGood

CrossWinds Counseling & Wellness will host its 4th annual breakfast fundraiser on Thursday, November 5th, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The event is free to attendees and this year’s theme is #COVIDCantStopGood. The 2020 event is shifting gears and taking another pivot toward their first hybrid-virtual event to adapt for health & safety concerns Ambassador Table Captains will be hosting small groups, socially distanced with all precautions, in various locations around the entire 7-county service area (Coffey, Chase, Greenwood, Lyon, Morris, Osage & Wabaunsee) to view a streamed presentation of the year’s highlights and successes, and to hear incredible stories of sharing, caring, and healing from clients who have led personal journey’s in mental health.

Although 2020 has been a challenge for everyone, there is much to celebrate. This year marks the 60th anniversary of CrossWinds Counseling & Wellness in the community as the primary nonprofit advocate for mental health. Through years of growth the principal efforts have included expanding Mental Health First Aid training, promoting knowledge of mental health resources and supporting those in crisis with broad spectrum counseling and therapeutic services. Psychology today states that, “The mental health effects of Covid-19 will shape health for many years, long past the events that precipitated them.” CrossWinds CEO, Amanda Cunningham says, “It is critical now more than ever to break the stigma of seeking help for mental health concerns, as we anticipate a higher demand for counseling services in the future year due to the after-effects of the Coronavirus. In looking ahead for funding needs it’s important to ensure the steps we take now are in the best interest of public health once the pandemic passes and we move our focus from one of response to one of recovery. Funding for those that need mental health care services is critical.”

As the CrossWinds team began preparing for the unexpected twists and turns associated with the pandemic it became evident that community businesses were working to support critical mental health support services. Thirteen area businesses and foundations joined as corporate sponsors and donors despite the pandemic. We are so excited to partner with these companies to launch this year’s fundraiser and to see that #COVIDCantStopGood in our shared communities!
Net proceeds from the event will allow CrossWinds to provide services to everyone, including those who do not have insurance, to maintain a presence in schools, and sustain ongoing operations toward a healthier community.
